I don’t think I can stress enough just how much I love autumn dressing and I am beyond thrilled that for me and other fellow lovers of autumn – our time has arrived! Think wide-leg denim, timeless coats and jackets, pointed boots and a nod to autumnal earthy tones with accessories – BRING IT ON. Of course NET-A-PORTER* has you covered as always and their new-in section* is just a wealth of wishlist wants and outfit inspiration right now. My top tip would be to take a bit of time on the ‘Designers‘* section of the website, heart your favourites and that means that whenever you’re searching for a coat, or boots for example, you can narrow it down to just your favourite designers. That’s how I put this edit together and let me tell you, my shopping list is *brimming* right now. Here’s what’s on it…

WIDE-LEG DENIM

I’ve put wide-leg denim here, but really straight leg denim will always be ‘in’ too – it’s a classic for a reason. In the picture I’m wearing the KHAITE Danielle High-Rise Straight Leg Jeans* (top tip – size up – I’m wearing a 28 here and could have done with the 29 for a bit of extra comfort) and they are a bit of everything in that they are a straight leg, but run long, so flare out nicely over a heeled boot. For a more classic wide-leg style that feels a bit more oversized, try the WARDROBE.NYC Low-Rise Boyfriend Jeans* – I’d always recommend checking the ‘Size & Fit’ section on the product page as NET-A-PORTER always provide such helping sizing info, which is *exactly* what you need when it comes to denim. The Citizens of Humanity Annina High-Rise Wide Leg Jeans* offer a more mid-wash denim feel if that’s what you fancy, or if it’s a lighter wash that you’re after then give the Loulou Studio Organic Jeans* a try.

EARHTY-TONED BAGS

My FAVOURITE thing to talk about. My heart literally pounds with joy at the NET-A-PORTER Bag Section* – ha! The new autumn bags are just so, so good that it’s hard to pick a favourite, and instead I’m going to have to pick out three. The Row Park Small Leather Tote in Orange* (which is actually the gorgeous burgundy bag that I’m wearing in these photos), is splendid and just so buttery and beautiful in real life – maybe size up to the medium if you want things more roomy. The Toteme Textured-Leather Tote* is just the right balance of slouchy, but a little rigid and looks like it would fit in a good amount. Then we have to talk about the Loewe Puzzle Fold Covertible Two-Tone Leather Tote Bag*. I really, really like it – especially in the two-tone. Not only is it practical, the two tone makes a statement, as does the folding design. What can I say? I just love a Loewe.

WOOL COATS

The good news with coats is that a classic style will always look chic. You know the coat you have from last year? Or 10 years ago? If you bought high-quality and in a cut that you still feel great in, then the chances are that you will just be able to dust it off for the season ahead. Wool coats might be more classically left for the true winter months, but they are just as handy in the transitional months too – just skip the knitwear filling layer and leave it to your two pieces of bread – a thin t-shirt and a wool coat. I’m wearing the Toteme Doublé Oversized Wool Coat* here, which is just the right thickness in that it’s thin enough for autumn, but thick enough for the bitter cold too and I’ve always loved their Toteme Signature Wool-Blend Coat*. Did I sell my Toteme Draped Fringe Wool-Blend Jacket* in green so I could purchase the all-black version which might just be the chicest thing I’ve ever seen?! Yes, yes I did. For a bit of a twist on a basic I’d recommend the Loulou Studio Wool & Cashmere Blend Coat*, it’s got that classic double-breasted long coat fit, but has a pinstriped pattern which also leans into the tailoring trend right now. It’s a bit of a two-in-one.

POINTED BOOTS

I have always loved a pointed boot moment. Back in the day I was all about the almond toe, but this year it’s all about the squared-off pointed toe for me. There is just something about them that elongates the leg and if you purchase a slightly higher sock-boot variety, then it literally goes with every single denim style – cropped, wide-leg or straight. They just look universally good. The other good piece of news is that they are comfy. The Toteme Mid Heel Ankle Boots* are like wearing slippers and I don’t exactly understand it, but I’m not questioning it! They are my big boot purchase of the season and I’m already in love. They were exactly what I was looking for when it came to elevating my outfits for the season ahead (side note: they also come in a Dark Brown Croc Effect*, and run true to size). If you’re after a more softer point, give the Aeyde Linn Leather Ankle Boots* a go or for a full length knee-high style try the Staud Allay Leather Knee Boots* that also come in a gorgeous camel suede.
